about

Unwed Mothers Edmonton, Alberta

A young, up and coming blues/indie-rock project from Edmonton, AB. Julie Adams fronts the band with her raspy power-house vocals, constantly surprising audiences with the level of sound that can emerge from such a tiny body, and the band commands the stage with catchy riffs and airtight playing.

This is real rock and roll.

Track Name: Skeletons
I keep all my skeletons under my bed, they try and put me to sleep but they just wake me instead.
I keep them inside a box I lock with a key so when I wake in the night they don't stare up at me.
When I pour my cereal they sit at the table and laugh when the carton of milk has run dry.
They don't pay rent and when I'm feeling depressed they just stare with cold bones and sunken deep hollow eyes. Oh.

I keep my skeletons.
They keep me sweet company every night every day. Oh.
I keep my skeletons.
I keep them when am I gonna feel them slipping away.

I keep all this heavy weight on top of my back, wait for the weightless of the past to somehow keep coming back.
I walk with my body hanging down to the left to compensate for the heart that pounds inside of my chest.
When I put a hat on I just take out my brain replacing thinking for fashion so I don't feel any pain.
And I attach cinder blocks under my feet, I'm an even paced walker I can't get no relief. Oh.

I keep my skeletons.
They keep me sweet company every night every day. Oh.
I keep my skeletons.
I keep them when am I gonna feel them slipping away.
I keep my skeletons.
They keep me sweet company every night every day. Oh.
I keep my skeletons.
I keep them when am I gonna feel them slipping away.
Slipping away. Slipping away. I keep them when am I gonna feel them slipping away.
Slipping away oh. Slipping away. I keep them when am I gonna feel them slipping away.

I keep all my skeletons under my bed before I sleep I ask if someday they could leave me instead.
I keep them inside a box I lock with a key, they say "dream baby, dream dream dream."
Track Name: Slow
Face in the mirror at 23 ain't exactly who you thought you'd be
Your friends say it's better mum says it's worse, not sure if it's a blessing or a curse
You got pennies in your pocket dollars to pay, yeah it's in there now but is it gonna stay?
Is it your poetry, your pretty words you say? Is it a suit and a tie and a 9 to 5 day?
Oh...

Girl you gotta put your mind at ease, 'cause when you're shackled in the system you set yourself free.
You gotta get yourself settled and find a home. It's gonna mean more to you when you rent to own.

And life is a question with no answers. You try and slow it down but she's gonna run faster.
And everybody's gonna say which way to go. You got the pedal on fast but you're moving slow.
Yeah you're moving slow. Oh...

Well you feel a little different than before. They gave you all they had but you still want more.
You're gonna try and break free with what you've found. Oh but your mama keeps sayin' hunny keep your head down.
Yeah she says keep your head down keep your head down.

And love is a question with no answers. You try and slow it down but she's gonna run faster.
And everybody's gonna say which way to go. You got the pedal on fast but you're moving slow. Yeah you're moving slow. Oh...
